Ms. Mariam Arthur started her career in the film industry as a production manager for an independent feature film in 1999, and soon became an associate producer. In 2001, she founded the Thunderbird International Film Festival at Southern Utah University. Ms. Arthur moved to Hollywood in 2003 to work as VP Acquisitions for Interactive Film Sales International, and continued to work on independent productions as Script Doctor, Craft Service Director and Production Manager.
In 2007, Ms. Arthur moved to Cambodia and started helping develop the struggling film industry. In addition to helping assist local and international productions, she has recently become the Chairman of the Cambodia Oscar Selection Committee, sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and Vice-President of the Motion Picture Association of Cambodia, cooperating with the MPAA to protect against copyright infringement. Her company, Kmy Films, holds the rights for the Cambodian distribution of several international movies and is currently in development of an international film scheduled for production in late 2013.
